What You'll Need

• A can of compressed air
• A soft microfibre cloth
• Isopropyl alcohol (70%)
• Cotton swabs
• A keycap puller (optional, for deep cleaning)

Step 1: Turn Off and Unplug Your Keyboard

Before you do anything, make sure your keyboard is switched off and unplugged. For wireless keyboards, turn them off completely. Safety first!

Step 2: Shake Out the Loose Debris

Hold your keyboard upside down and gently shake it to dislodge any loose crumbs or dust. You'll be surprised what falls out.

Step 3: Use Compressed Air

Blast compressed air between the keys to remove dust and debris that's stuck in the gaps. Work in short bursts and angle the can to push debris out rather than further in.

Step 4: Wipe Down the Keys

Dampen a microfibre cloth or cotton swab with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe down each key. Avoid soaking the cloth — a little goes a long way.

Step 5: Clean Between the Keys

Use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to clean the sides of the keys and the spaces between them. Take your time here — this is where most of the grime hides.

Step 6: Deep Clean (Optional)

For a thorough clean, use a keycap puller to remove the keycaps and clean underneath them. Wipe the keycaps individually and let them dry completely before putting them back.

Step 7: Let It Dry

Give your keyboard a few minutes to air dry before plugging it back in or switching it on.
